How it will work

The Teal Wand is in clinical trials to support FDA submission and approval.
Teal Health will design the at-home cervical cancer screening experience to work according to FDA approved indications.

01

Request a kit

Once you’ve requested an at-home collection kit from Teal, your order will be reviewed to ensure eligibility, and the kit will be prescribed by a provider. Once approved, it will ship to your home.

02

Collect your sample & mail to lab

Receive the kit and perform the self-collection in the comfort of your home. Teal support is available to make sure we answer any questions you have - then seal your sample and ship it to the lab.

Processed
at CLIA-certified labs

The sample you collect with the Teal Wand is tested on an FDA-approved Primary HPV test, the recommended cervical cancer screening test by the American Cancer Society and the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).

Certified doctors and medical professionals review your results, following the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) defined guidelines.

What is a CLIA-certified lab? CLIA is the acronym for the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988. This law requires any facility performing examinations of human specimens (e.g., tissue, blood, urine, etc.) for diagnosis, prevention, or treatment purposes to be certified by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services

03

Get results & connect with a provider

Get easy to understand results delivered to your secure Teal account and connect virtually with a Teal Health provider to discuss next steps. If additional follow-up care is needed, the Teal team will help coordinate your referral care.

Who should get screened?

Every person with a cervix between the age of 25-65 should get screened regularly. Even if you are vaccinated, you should still get screened. Self-collect screening is currently being tested to determine eligibility criteria. See how it compares to collection with a speculum and brush.

Is it covered by insurance?

Yes, it should be. The USPSTF has issued cervical cancer screening an “A” grade, meaning insurers are required to cover it, without copay. Teal is working to get in-network with all major insurance providers.
