Teal Health’s commitment to healthcare for all

At Teal, we know that not everyone who has a cervix identifies as a woman. We are committed to providing equal care for everyone who can benefit from our services and welcome patients across all gender and sexual identities.

We are on a mission to close the gaps in cervical cancer screening and make this experience feel comfortable, convenient, and private –

for everyone who has a cervix.

Teal’s Use of Gendered Language

Most of our materials use the terms “women” and “women’s health.”

These terms are the most accessible and easy to understand across our large and diverse patient population, ranging in education levels, English proficiency, cultural background, and familiarity with healthcare. Using this language also allows us to bring power back into women’s experiences, which have received less attention in traditional healthcare settings for too long.

With the Teal Wand, we offer an alternative way to screen for cervical cancer and ensure our patients have reliable and caring support from providers who specialize in sexual and reproductive healthcare. This is often broadly referred to as “women’s health” among insurance carriers, clinics, and healthcare culture. So, we use these terms to speak most effectively to what we offer, rather than everyone we offer to.

An Option for All People With a Cervix

The Teal Wand meets the highest standards of care for all people with a cervix. Our nationwide clinical trial represented the gender and sexual diversity of the US population.

Hear directly from some of our clinical study participants:

“I would recommend (Teal) as a great option if you do not want to, or cannot, come in person to a clinic for a Pap. I liked the privacy and I felt empowered.”

Pansexual/Queer

“I know a lot of people who are uncomfortable with pelvic exams because of dysphoria. They would be a lot more likely to do a self-test.”

Pansexual/Queer

“I can see why (a speculum exam) is overwhelming, especially with body dysphoria, especially if you are realizing you're a trans man and you don't want to deal with that. An at-home test would be a good option to try because you are on your own, you can do your own ritual to prepare, in your own safe space.”
